The White Sox pitching staff has MLB's highest F-Strike %

The following chart shows the rate and ranking of the White Sox pitching staff in a selection of pitched-ball categories, mostly to do with the ability (or inclination) to throw strikes. It concerns itself with contact only as a Y/N proposition, that is to say that batted ball results do not appear at all. The included Contact stat is notable as well for being the only metric in the chart for which a lower ranking usually indicates better results than a higher one.

MLB rankings are among 30, with the statistic for the 16th ranked club shown in the chart and taken as the median value. For AL, it's the 8th team as median.

The multicolor final column of the chart runs red, amber, green – top to bottom -- in imitation of a traffic light. The descending order goes: Staff, Starters, Relievers. The two numbers separated by a comma indicate the White Sox ranking within the relevant MLB, AL groups.

All data and rankings were drawn from the "Plate Discipline" leaderboard at Fangraphs and were accurate as of Friday May 22. A cursory glance through some of the same categories today suggests that this past weekend's outings have tended to lower the Sox overall rankings. However, it remains fair to draw such general conclusions as 1) Sox starters pound the zone to mostly great effect and 2) the relievers less so and less so.
