Need explanation
In the box score for Charlotte it shows Sisco having an AB and Nuñez having a couple.

Charlotte lost its DH
Rogowski had to leave the game, so Ernie Young moved from DH to first, forcing pitchers to hit.

by Sox Machine on Sep 2, 2007 3:05 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I was there
Rogo got tossed and for some reason they couldn't adjust their lineup in a way to keep the DH from entering the game.  Sisco was not nearly as good as his line.  He was all over the place and helped out a ton by a very wide strike zone.

hey bull pain,
what's your impressions of bourgeois (AAA)?

by The Wizard on Sep 2, 2007 12:27 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

He's interesting
I don't think the Sox see him as much more than filler, but I think he can provide replacement level 2B stats.  He was really poor the last few years in the minors, so it maybe a Knights Stadium fluke year.

hopefully since there was only 2-3 games left at the time, they decided to have him skip it all

3 on, 0 out, 0 runs? sounds familiar
great falls tribune:
The White Sox nearly won it in the 10th on Retherford's two-out single to left. But Orem's Jeremy Moore threw out John Curtis at the plate. Curtis, who had walked and advanced on a wild pitch with two outs, barreled hard into catcher Anel De La Rosa, who held on for the out.

Great Falls then squandered a great scoring chance in the 11th, failing to score after loading the bases with nobody out. Consecutive singles by Joe Persichina, Salvador Sanchez and Jimmy Gallagher filled the bases.

With the Owlz infield in, Sox slugger Christian Marrero got jammed and fisted a soft line drive to short where Andrew Romine short-hopped it and threw home for the force. Sanchez froze and didn't immediately run toward third, believing Romine caught the ball, and Orem turned the unconventional 6-2-5 double play.

Matt Inouye then struck out and the teams played on.

In the 16th, Paiml singled to center and with two outs stole second, advancing to third when the throw sailed into centerfield. But Persichina popped up to end the inning.

AJ is proud
gf tribune:
There was more heated drama in the eighth, as White Sox hitter Andrew Mead was caught looking at strike three after he stepped out of the box on a 2-2 pitch. Mead had asked for time as Walden was starting his delivery, and home plate umpire Kyle Byrne did not grant it.

Byrne rang him up, much to Mead's displeasure. The Sox outfielder slammed his bat to the ground and argued for a few moments before the umpire tossed him out of the game.

Byrne also ejected White Sox catcher John Curtis after the Great Falls receiver showed displeasure with the strike zone a few pitches after Brossman's homer.

...

A wondrous game on a beautiful night ended in ugly fashion when home-plate umpire Kyle Byrne, who had already ejected two White Sox players, threw out Great Falls manager Chris Cron following a call in the 16th.

Trailing by a run after Brossman's shot, the Sox got the potential tying runner aboard as Salvador Sanchez singled to lead off the 16th. Jimmy Gallagher struck out as Sanchez slid in safely with an apparent stolen base. But Byrne called batter interference on the lefthanded-hitting Gallagher, whose follow-through on the swing took him somewhat to the left of home plate, and Sanchez was declared out in what amounted to a double play.

Cron argued in heated fashion and was tossed from the game as an angry Great Falls crowd roared in disbelief.

C.J. Retheford and his lightning quick bat
gf trib:
C.J. Retherford's dramatic solo home run in the ninth inning tied the game, and the Great Falls White Sox and Orem Owlz played late into the night before an energized crowd that largely stuck around at Centene.

Trailing 2-1, Retherford led off the ninth and the Centene crowd of 2,015 came to its feet in a collective wave of support. The former Arizona State utility player worked the count full against Orem ace closer Ryan Brasier, then fouled off a couple before connecting on a blast that sailed over the wall in left-centerfield about 385 feet.

It was perhaps the most dramatic moment of what has been a summer filled with highlights for the White Sox, and it was fitting that Retherford, the team MVP who set a Pioneer record with 30 doubles, was in the spotlight. It was the second home run of the postseason for Retherford, the 5-11, 190-pounder with the lightning quick bat.
