And I'm half-fast.
Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

Huh? Aren't Swish and BA out
of position?  Or is this to see how Swish handles CF?
Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

JR had mentioned in fantasy camp
to expect to see Swish in CF.
I wrote this song after I killed a drifter to get an erection.

I know but...
that was when the choice was Swisher and Owens, not Swisher and BA.
Swish is a very good corner OF, BA is a very good CF.  They should be switched.
Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

by Chiburb on Mar 5, 2008 3:00 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

shouldn't swisher
i don't know, play there a little if he's going to be used there in the regular season? this is ST.

Operable part.

right
and he is going to be used there. so get some reps.

owens and quentin shut down
hope is kindled for jesse!

[Dave van Dyck]:

The White Sox have shut down outfielders Jerry Owens and Carlos Quentin for at least "a couple of days" because of injuries, according to manager Ozzie Guillen.

Owens, who has taken the early lead as leadoff man/center fielder, continues to be bothered by a nagging groin pull that has bothered him for several days.

"I don't like the way he was running the bases," Guillen said. "The key for him is his legs and we have to keep those legs fresh. ... There's no reason for him to go out there and hurt himself again. All of a sudden a minor injury could become a big injury. We learned that from having [Scott] Podsednk. Pods would go from a little soreness to a big deal."

by The Wizard on Mar 5, 2008 2:39 PM CST   0 recs

I love that they don't even
bother to mention what's up with Quentin. He's just sore and creating bad habits, which could be anything up to and including hanging out with Brian Anderson

by The Deacon on Mar 5, 2008 2:48 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Now they need to coddle Jerry Owens?
If you need to baby his legs then you might as well take him out behind the barn and shoot him.

One good thing Wiz - all the pieces are falling in place for BA!  Woohoo!

Owens and Quentin
Have they taken over as the permanently disabled list regulars from Ersty and Pods??

by Chiburb on Mar 5, 2008 2:50 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

If asking about position
Nope - Oz wants Swish in center and BA has been playing all the fields... soon to be the starting CF with Quentin and Owens doing their best to be like Pods/Erstad

by ballyb on Mar 5, 2008 4:31 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

if he doesnt really have a shot
then he's taking a lot of reps from others we need to see.  If he's being showcased in a trade for some B prospect, then he's also taking a lot of reps needlessly.

But if he's just playing because everyone else is injured/sore, then ok.

Lord, beer me strength.

That was the sarcasm in the statement
I don't think it will - JO is going to be a SP re-tread... makes it late to the majors, then can't stay healthy. I've nothing against him, just have not seen anything that says he will be a average or better than player.
So instead of a big splash, there were ripples -- enough to change the tide, Williams believes

by Brush Back on Mar 5, 2008 4:36 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Nope. this one
You've made a couple of comments lately about Anderson being an ST HOFer (Masset too I think.)
But is that really fair?  Maybe it was in '06, but after winning a roster spot in '07 with a solid, even good, ST is it fair to say he didn't produce?  If the main purpose of ST is to prepare for the season, how could BA be expected to continue his ST offense with only 17 April ABs?

Not saying you're wrong about BA, just trying to keep a perspective...

Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

by Chiburb on Mar 5, 2008 3:02 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

I think Thome needs
to get into those "backlot" games and get about 20 ABs a day.

But seriously - I hope there's no knee jerk reaction to Ramirez raking in this glorified batting practice. Ysh.

But yeah...I used to keep a blog (http://uscomiskular.blogspot.com/) for a few weeks but then homework got tough so I cut it out. I'll do my blogging here from now on.

Guess Castro wasn't tough enough?
He's got Contreras to keep him away from the pooty-tang and throw a brotherly arm around him, he's got Ozzie who speaks the mother tongue, and he's damn happy to get major league per diem.

What's so tough?  Beckett's splitter is child's play compared to where he came from.  Like Manute Bol having killed a tiger in Africa - a real one, as a manly ritual - then playing in the NBA.  No wonder he was smiling all the time.

Thanks Wiz
Just a reminder of how the might have fallen.  In case anyone missed it, in other news Wiz linked to a Royals blog where they bitch about their fast guy, Joey Gathright

Any what are they bitching about?  That this weak little slap hitter, who had an OBP of .371 last year, might be kept on the roster as a fourth OF. And we're here praying for .350 from Jerry, and the golden boy's been handed the leadoff position.  WTF?!?
