White Sox Payroll Info

Notes:

  • Buehrle -- no-trade protection:
    • 2009 - July 15, 2010: Limited no-trade protection allowing Buehrle to block trades to certain unspecified clubs. A trade triggers an escalator paying $1M raise to $15M annually, plus a guaranteed fifth year paying $15M for 2012.
    • July 16, 2010 - 2011: Buehrle may not be traded without his permission, under right as 10-and-5 player
  • Dye -- $12M mutual option vs. $1M buyout
    • 2009: Limited no-trade clause: Dye may block deals to 6 unknown clubs
  • Floyd -- $9.5M option in 2013
  • Konerko -- Full no-trade protection as a 10/5 player
  • Peavy -- 2013: $22M club option vs. $4M buyout
  • Rios -- 2015: $13.5m club option vs. $1M buyout
  • Thome -- Mark Gonzales (via MLBTraderumors) says the Sox have burned through their Thome cash. Anyone with evidence to the contrary should contact me.
  • Thornton -- Club Options:
    • 2010: $2.25M club option vs. $250K buyout
    • 2011: $3.00M club option vs. $250K buyout
  • Viciedo -- $4M signing bonus (which I assume is paid upfront)

These are not exact figures. Most are reasonable approximations based on all the information I could find. If you have any documented information to help with the list, please send it to me.
