Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals activated pitcher Chris Carpenter from the 15-day disabled list Monday. Carpenter was in the midst of his third start of the season in early August when the right-hander strained his right triceps. Previously, the oft-injured Carpenter missed 270 games dating back to 2007 following Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow. The 2005 NL Cy Young Award winner has a career mark of 100-70 and a 4.08 earned run average in 249 games, including 232 starts, over parts of 11 seasons for Toronto and St. Louis. In other roster news, the Cardinals also recalled pitcher Randy Flores from Triple-A Memphis and announced they would add infielders Brendan Ryan and Brian Barden, catcher Mark Johnson and pitchers Josh Kinney, Jason Motte and Kelvin Jimenez to the active roster on Tuesday.
