Season over for Cards' Mather

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Joe Mather will be out the remainder of the season due to a broken bone in his left wrist. Mather suffered the injury while trying to check his swing in the third inning of an 8-6 loss to the Diamondbacks Monday afternoon. He will have surgery on the wrist. In 54 games, Mather hit .241 with eight homers and 18 RBI.
