Congrats White Sox Fans
Red Sox fan here who's been checking out the site since my team was unceremoniously walloped by the White Sox this year.

Just wanted to pass along my congratulations...through every round of the playoffs you pretty much left no question who was boss this year.

Count me among the people who were uneducated enough not to respect what your team was capable of...when I heard Cleveland got swept the final weekend of the season, I bought into the media hype that they'd choked.  I figured the Red Sox would get through you and lose in the next round.

I was so wrong it wasn't even funny.  Boston didn't have a prayer.

Neither did Anaheim.  And quite clearly, neither did Houston.

A hell of team you've got.  As another fan of a formerly "long suffering" franchise, soak it in.  It makes me nostalgic for last year...there's nothing like the release of FINALLY getting it done.

So, like I got to say to some Yankee-loving bastards last year in terms of the Red Sox: Who's World Series drought is longer than the White Sox's?  EVERYBODY'S.

I Don't Have The Words
My brothers, this has been extraordinary.  I could not be prouder of the Sox, that group of strangers who carry our town's name.  Thanks to them, and thanks to all of you who shared the run.

Gentlemen, it has been a pleasure.

And Landfill
your stories with your daughters have been outstanding--those kids absolutely rock (as does, I suppose, their dad. :) ).  I just hope they stayed up long enough to enjoy this!

Hallelujah!!! Go Sox!!!
This is a beautiful day.  What a wonderful year it's been.  Also, let me give a shout-out to the Boston fans who've posted very nice things on this blog.  You guys are class acts, and I was glad to see your team kick ass last year, since our Sox fell short of the playoffs.  The important thing is we're all Sox fans, and the Yankees and their fans had to sit at home and watch our teams march to victory.  ;-)

Never thought it would happen.
Was at the game at Comiskey in 83 when Tito Landrum broke my 9-year-old heart with a solo shot to right.  I'd never heard my father swear before that day.  Left the south side for Cambridge, England, and have just stayed up all goddamn night to watch the game.  I'm lecturing in 4 hours, my girlfriend thinks I'm certifiable, and I JUST DON'T CARE. Just wish I had some beer in the house.  And that I were in Chicago.  Or at least had a Cubs fan to irritate.

by ebwilford on Oct 26, 2005 11:53 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

There was nothing better
than watching some of these games with cubs fans, at least the ones that had not turned into "chicago fans"

Figures
Yeah, Cubs fans WOULD be at Oxford (English, Philosophy, Political theory) rather than Cambridge (Science, Engineering, Architecture),

Is there anything that can't be framed in a North Side/South SIde or Cubs/Sox manner?

A Word For Cheat
You've made this wonderful season great for out-of-town Chicagoans, brother.  As you can guess, there ain't no Sox fans in Washington, D.C. to speak of.  You guys are the best!

I'm isolated down here in Braves country. I asked my class to predict the winner of this year's World Series just as the post-season was beginning. Most votes were for the Braves. I was the sole White Sox vote. It's clear that, before this title, the White Sox were pretty much ignored by the country outside of the Chicago area. This blog page helped me feel as if I were in Chicago with my ChiSox bretheren (and sisteren??)

After Uribe's final out, my thoughts went immediately to my Grandfather (passed on) who was 14 years old when the Sox were last champions. He modeled a love (and frustration) for the Sox to me, for which I'm VERY grateful. Will we see another championship before we move on to the "field of dreams"?

Thanks again to all who helped to make this an unforgetable season!

I was at the Jack Morris no-hitter

A year to remember...just an amazing season from an amazing team.  World Champions.  That feels so right.

And I'll extend a thanks to Cheat too...this is a wonderful site, thanks for providing it.

How fitting
from the game recap notes:
"Chicago also began the season and the second half with 1-0 wins, both over Cleveland."

The perfect way to end the season.  1-0.  World Champs.  Chicago White Sox.

Congratulations White Sox Fans
Visiting from Athletics Nation...

White Sox and A's had some memorable games this year, and I will say it was fun seeing Jermaine Dye succeed in the World Series and get his recognition.  Congratulations to you and your team.

You guys over at AN consistently have some of the funniest goddamn comments at SB Nation (especially when you're beating up on Scooter).  It's always a lot of fun hopping over there to read you guys; well, so long as you're not playing the Sox!

Good luck to you next year.

A.J. Said it best...
This team has just been incredible all year long.  Just about as good as it gets.  A bunch of gritty guys who work hard and pick each other up.  What else can you ask for?  Down the stretch people were calling us chokers, well now they can call us frickin champions.

This was from an short interview they just had on ESPN, and there's no way I could ever put it better than that.

What a year! I'm glad I found this place in June, and it was great talking with some real baseball fans, and some real White Sox fans.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX 2005 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!

call him crazy, I would...
but BrentBrookHouse....

Over IM he told me we would sweep the Red Sox, we did.  After the game 1 loss to Angels, he said we'd win the next four, we did.  Before the World Series started, he said Chicago would sweep them, they did.

I'm calling for his screenname on here being changed to Brookstradamus.

Nothing like shameless confidence going into each series.  It seemed to be working...so why wouldn't I call for a sweep?
