Guys, be straight with me. Hitting?

As I have mentioned before, I followed the Sox from afar all year. From what I kept reading, the big problem was hitting. We didn't have much.

All summer, I figured we'd pitch well in the playoffs, but we'd lack hitting. And great lineups eventually get to excellent pitching.

So we play 3 against Boston and get the big hits when we need them. We hit like champs.

So here we are, looking ahead. And I am trying to figure out how much stress to take on to my 51 year old ticker. Which broaches the big question:

That hitting we saw against Boston--what are the odds we can continue to hit well moving forward?

Now, based on what I saw, the Sox hitters were very disciplined against the Bosox. So, maybe they are more focussed and maybe it's credible that they could raise their performance by some modest percentage.

Maybe.

Or maybe they just got hot. Which is great. But as we all know, hot doesn't last.

And Boston's pitching was not top shelf. Clement really hurt them and helped us that 1st game. Future opponents will definitely pitch better.

So what would a sober analysis of our hitting prospects be? I know--none of you has a crystal ball.

Put the question this way:

How far out of character--if at all--was our hitting against Boston? Were we recognizably ourselves or were we hitting over our heads?

Maybe I'm asking an impossible question and you can tell me so if it's true.

But I guess I'd like to hear a sober read on our hitting from knowledgable fans.
