Not Dead Yet
White Sox Magic Number: 9
Boy does it feel good to get that thing into single digits. I can also retire this all-too-often used quote:
Mark Buehrle dug the Sox an early hole by giving up a 2-run HR to Aaron Boone, but for the first time in almost 2 months the Sox put together enough offense to overcome the deficit, winning their first extra-inning contest of the season at home in the process.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to take the playoffs. These past two games have been heart wrenching. In fact, almost all of the Sox-Indians games have been like this. 12 of the 15 games have been decided by 2 or less runs, and one of the "blowouts" was a 13 inning game.
It's been a long time since a win felt this good.

compare to Greg Couch article today
The stuff about the swiping motion was just a lie. Fans were cheering when he left Politte in.
And he doesn't know what he's talking about. With runners on second and third and one out in the ninth you do not play the infield in (unless it's Konerko on second) because playing in increases the chance of a two run single. They won because they did the traditional thing: they played to tie at home.
WOW
WTF?!? -- Sure Jenks is closing now, but has he watched Hermanson pitch lately? He got touched up no Monday, and last night he had to have Ozzie and Herm come out and check on his chronically injured back.
Changed around the rotation? -- Let me see. Garcia, Buehrle, and Garland were the scheduled starters, and Garcia, Buehrle and Garland were the Sox starting pitchers. -- I think many of us would have liked to see Contreras out there, but that would have required a change in the rotation.
Bottom three starters? Jake Westbrook was the Indians opening day starter. Millwood pitched game #2. He also opened the Indians second half.
Somebody has an axe to grind, and won't let silly little facts get in the way.
pitching is a concern, of course...

What is up with the Chicago Tribune?
Talk about raining on the parade, sour grapes, jesus christ. Is this guy always like this? If we had a columnist piss on a hometown team like that, he'd get run out of town.
the bias I'm used to
Does anybody have the Bobby Howry
Howry said:
At least, unlike Rick Morrissey, Howry has a reason to be bitter, considering he coughed it up last night.
I wonder if Howie understands they lost
