Scott Schoeneweis received steroids while on the White Sox

According to an ESPN the Magazine report, Scott Schoeneweis, who filled the hard-to-spell bullpen pitcher who thought he was a starter role after Tanyon Sturtze was let go, received six shipments of steroids while playing for the White Sox in 2003 and 2004.

Not only did he receive shipments of steriods, but this dumbass had the bright idea to send them to Comiskey Park. My exclusive* inside sources say the packages were cleverly labeled "laxatives." Seriously, what type of arrogant numbskull thought he would get away with something like this? And how the heck did he think it would play on a team which tried to boycott the initial sample testing in order to force a more full-blown steroid testing?

Schoeneweis was 8-10 with a 5.39 ERA in 40 games (138.2 IP) with the White Sox including 19 starts.

* completely fabricated

i'm glad he got it sent to comiskey
you wouldn't want that stuff sitting on your doorstep while on a road trip or anything.

Here's Schoeneweis' last start with the Sox

Memorable performance... He was subsequently replaced by Jason Grilli

I remeber SUCKheneweis's last start
The late Double Duty Radcliffe who was about 100 years old threw out the 1st pitch. He also threw the only strike by the White Sox that night.

Wrong game
There was another start in which he got pounded and Double Duty threw out the 1st pitch.

you'd think a cancer survivor
would be extra wary of steroids and chew. Nothing beats the rush of increasing the odds to get a horrible illness AGAIN.

Didn't he go to Duke?
So much for those vaunted admission standards.

Why the disparaging comment
about his intellect?

"Steroids in Florida? I never received anything from Florida. I'm not going to comment. I never even heard of it."

See, he's brilliant.  He knows how to comment, and then not comment, at the same time.  They ususally teach you that at Duke only in law school.

Wait until 2010!

OT: Poll
I just cast the 100th vote in the poll, and it's now split 50/50...the optimist would say that's because both signings are equally good, but the realist KNOWS it's because they both steenk

Cheat, I may have mentioned the Orlando
steroid story would get more interesting....Not to stretch, but we know there is a large catcher who is from Orlando with large wrestling friends who just resigned for a couple of years...

Film at 11.

PS  I use the same sources as you.

Wait until 2010!

don't you remember?
he used to bat .300! and he's still got untapped veins, er, talent.

by larry on Oct 2, 2007 11:16 AM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Last time he hit .300
was in 2003. And his career .430 slugging doesnt seem to be the mark of a juicer.
Theres alway 2010.

lol
and those career numbers of scotty indicate he is?

considering the players who have been caught, i think we need to dispense with the stereotype of the ripped, home run machine as the steroid/PED user.

Good point
Steroids are going to have different effects on different people. But we shouldnt be comparing pitchers and batters when it comes to PED use.
Theres alway 2010.

Sprinters use PEDs.
I don't think it's necessarily so that PEDs for hitters = more homers.

so compare jay gibbons
and his .450 slugging. or, better, mike morse and his .399 slugging. or jerry hairston jr. and his .358 - imagine him without 'roids.

LOL
Can we start giving Owens some roids? I want to see him crack .400 slugging.
Theres alway 2010.

I think everyone thinks of guys like
Brady Anderson, Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, guys where the physical and performance differential were inherently obvious, not the hundreds of minor leaguers/fringy major leaguers who were/are trying to stay in the game.  Biggest narc has been Jason Grimsley and he was pretty much a horseshit pitcher at the end when he was busted.
Wait until 2010!
