rain delay
[Mark Gonzales]
BOSTON - Showers that started around 3:30 p.m. local time will delay the start of Thursday night's game between the White Sox and Boston at Fenway Park. Time for the first pitch has not been announced but showers are expected to pass through in the next hour. If that holds, look for the game to start around 7 p.m. Chicago time.

I have limited experience
(one game at Fenway 6 years ago) but I have to disagree.  I was wearing my WS hat 4 rows behind 1st base, great seats, and we won 5-3.  Fans were great, gracious, and knew baseball.  I do believe WAY too much attention has been paid to "The Crse" when it was applicable, but whatthehell.

yeah
everyone has different experiences, I went there for a series vs. the white sox when i was a junior in high school (5 years ago) with my family, and they not only were cussing at my dad and I the whole game, but comments started shooting down at my mom too (who doesn't even like the white sox).  Anyway, I'm sure if I was there for this series it would be different, plus everytime I've been to Yankee stadium to see the white sox its been awesome (minus the 9 dollar beer)

Charlie Haeger is the leading contender to start one of the games during Tuesday's day-night doubleheader against Detroit, provided he's not taxed as a reliever this weekend, Guillen said. Haeger would relish the chance to start against the Tigers because he lives about 25 minutes from Detroit. Haeger also received tips from fellow knuckleball pitcher Tim Wakefield of Boston before Thursday's game. "Just watching him throw has been helpful," Haeger said. I try to take his mechanics and put them into mine a little bit." ...

The Hawk, MVP of '67 Red Sox
This guy is so full of shit, he's preening like he was integral part of that team.  I looked it up, he got traded there (his 3rd team of the season mind you) at the end of the season and managed to get into 23 games and 80 ABs.

His line for BOS was .200/.247/.388 - OPS+ of 79

They show him out there strutting around on the field for their anniversary and waving his cap like he's Yaz.  And he's talking to DJ like he was the heart and soul of that team.  What a tool.

We're really starting to look like a ballclub
again.  This season is toast, but at least the entire team doesn't look like shit anymore.  We look like the past two seasons again: we're competitive with the best teams in baseball.  It's nice to watch a team that has players I can root for again.  It's pained me deeply to see Paulie struggle.  Now we find out if Bobby's fixed himself since his last outing.

by colintj on Jul 19, 2007 11:29 PM CDT reply actions

yeah
I know our team as a whole is shitty, but its hard to believe a team that has a HR king and sure-fire hall of famer, the most solid HR hitter in the league year after year, and the would have been MVP last year if the sox make the players, can be THIS bad, hopefully we finish over 500

28th straight game
w/o an extra-base hit. 103 at-bats.

In my lifetime, only Joey Cora (103 at-bats), Julio Cruz (106), Mike Caruso (110) and Scott Fletcher (twice, 105 and 123) have had equal or longer stretches between extra-base hits.
