Greg Walker knows he should have been fired: "Look, I know if I was in a normal situation I probably would have been fired after this year. But I also know that we have accomplished a lot. I know that if you watch this game on a daily basis there are things to point fingers at because this is a game of failure.
"I think over the years we built up a enough good will and accomplished things that people don't realize. But we have underachieved the last few years. I think [general manager] Kenny [Williams], [manager] Ozzie [Guillen] and [board chairman] Jerry [Reinsdorf] know the reasons, and they know I'm the right man for the job. Last year happened and it would have cost a lot of hitting coaches their jobs, but there is a lot of trust there. I don't take that lightly.
"I've done this for seven years and I think for those seven years we've underachieved two of them. Even those years we did underachieve we went about our business the right way. When they decide it's someone else's turn then it will be someone else's job.''
Paul Konerko on the White Sox .220 Home Batting Average: "Again, you should do better at home. A little unfortunate that we’re into June and the weather hasn’t turned. It turned a few games the last homestand. That average will get better as we go, but that’s a terrible stat.
"Some stats lie. That one doesn’t. That’s bad. We got get better and keep trying."
"Just be ready because I expect movement Tuesday," Guillen said. "I expect Kenny to do something Tuesday, and if we don’t do anything Tuesday, there are going to be a lot of lineup changes. That’s all I’m going to say about the offense.
"It can be me. It can be (hitting coach) Greg Walker. It can be the players. It could be anybody. I’m sick and tired to watch this thing for a year and a half. I’m not protecting anybody anymore. (Bleep) it.
"If they can’t get it done, Kenny should find someone to get it done. That’s it."
Ozzie Guillen on the possibility of firing Greg Walker: "That's not going to happen. To be honest with you, I don't think we need coaches. Look at the lineup. Everyone is a veteran, everyone knows what they're doing, everyone has experience, everyone went through it. I think you can ask the players. I'm not going to blame Walker about it. Greg is not a babysitter.
"Greg gives the best information and works hard, works harder than anybody and ‘Walk’ sometimes takes this game too deeply, too serious. I bet you one guy who is sick to his stomach now is him. It's not easy to be a hitting coach, it's not easy.’’
