Ruben Amaro starting to rival Kenny in terms of big deals. Yes, no, maybe?
From the creator of the excellent Palehose series. Pretty much sums up everything I'm thinking about those two...
"I'm just assuming everyone is going to get claimed," Williams said. "That's how I go about it." And having the ultimate confidence in the White Sox actually becomes a bit of a moot point. "Whether I do or don't, it doesn't matter," Williams said. "This is what we got."
What I find interesting especially is the picture of Rios on the right hand side about mid-way through with the caption: "Alex Rios has a six-year career batting average of .330." They meant on-base percentage, but who's watching? Also includes some snippets about the other teams in the division, some quotes from Andruw Jones, Alex Rios, and Mark Kotsay, and comes equipped with a poll. Enjoy
White Sox general manager Ken Williams is part owner of a new restaurant and sports bar set to open in April. Market, the name of Williams' business venture, is located at 1113 W. Randolph St. in the West Loop. The establishment features a 4,500-square foot bar and dining area with 20 flat screen televisions, a 2,500-square-foot outdoor beer garden, a 1,200-square foot sidewalk cafe and a 4,000-square foot rooftop lounge. No word on whether the bartenders will be required to wear shirts.
Ellis, a 6th grader from Glen Ellyn, was such a hit at Saturday's question-and-answer session at SoxFest that general manager Ken Williams did more than just invite Ethan to sit with him and Ozzie Guillen during the entertaining session, which was extended about 15 minutes. Williams was impressed so much by the quick-hitting questions from Ellis that he invited him and his father, Jim, to tour the Sox's front offices during the regular season.
CBS's Scott Miller pens an article on the White Sox Youth Movement™, and peppers in some quotes from Ken Williams. Normally, I'd just pull the most interesting Williams' quote, but I can't tell which quotes are fresh and which are stale and used to frame the story Miller is trying to tell. Read, and decide for yourself.
I didn't listen yet. I'm out the door to go watch The Office. More later. Couldn't get link to work as a FanShot. Click Here (Link opens your preferred media player)
Had the White Sox reached the second round of the playoffs last month, left fielder Carlos Quentin likely would have been added to the active roster, Williams said. ''Last time I saw Carlos Quentin, he was hitting balls out of the ballpark to straightaway center field, telling me it won't be long before he's ready to play,'' Williams said of a chat that took place before Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Ray. ''Carlos was going to take live BP if we ended up going back to Tampa (for Game 5).'' Williams is confident Quentin will be ready when spring training opens in February. ''He's probably ready now,'' Williams said. ''Knowing Carlos, he might have his uniform on already, sitting in front of the TV with his bat.''
