The injury to Danks is likely the hand/wrist injury he suffered on a HBP a few games back. Daniel Hudson, Christian Marrero and Lee Cruz promoted to Birmingham. Brian Omogrosso's promotion to Charlotte is also confirmed. Winston-Salem gets Tyler Kuhn, Justin Edwards and Seth Loman. Update on Kannapolis: Kenny Williams Jr. back off the DL. Luis Sierra and Murillo Gouvea join from extended spring training.
The White Sox Top 10 has undergone some significant renovations since we first released it. We update the lists in the Prospect Handbook with transactions through mid-December, and Chicago's has three new faces in Viciedo and two former Braves, catcher Tyler Flowers and shortstop Brent Lillibridge. GM Kenny Williams loves to wheel and deal, so we may not be done making changes. Clickthru for ranking goodness
Aaron Poreda hasn’t overwhelmed hitters in his first full pro season, but he throws hard, he throws strikes, and he’s pitched very well in the last month. That could lead to a big league promotion for the White Sox’ stretch run, but for now Poreda will have to settle for shutting down Southern League hitters, which he’s done quite well lately. Yesterday Poreda shut down a strong Huntsville lineup, going six innings and allowing just one run, which was unearned. Poreda walked two and struck out six, lowering his ERA with Birmingham to 3.17 in 76 2/3 innings with 21 walks and 62 strikeouts. Poreda, 21, began the year in high Class A Winston-Salem, where he had a 3.31 ERA in 73 1/3 innings with a 46-18 K-BB mark. In each of his last five starts, Poreda has not allowed more than three earned runs in one outing.
Prior to tonight's game at Tampa Bay, the Chicago White Sox returned Danny Richar from an injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte, reinstated the infielder from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Charlotte.
Charlotte catcher Donny Lucy suffered a dislocated right kneecap in the fourth inning. Lucy ended the inning with a deep fly to left field, but on the follow through of his swing his right left twisted oddly and Lucy went down immediately, grabbing his knee. Lucy stayed down at home plate for several minutes before being carted off the field
I was going to perform a roundup of the Sox minors for the month, but the system is pretty dry and Jim's done a fine job here. And besides, the only names I'm really paying attention to anymore are Broadway, Egbert, Harrell (DL), Poreda, Cassell, Shelby (injured?), Miranda (poor start), and Martinez (no power).
