Pudge-White Sox a good match

Kenny Williams unfortunately doesn't pick up the phone and call White Sox beat writers before making roster moves. I feel pretty safe saying no other major-league general manager does, either. That's why you see so many wild rumors out there at this time of the year. So, hey, let's throw out another one. Pudge Rodriguez to the Sox. Give him a one-year, $1 million deal and tack on some incentives. As Danny Knobler reported on CBSSports.com yesterday, Rodriguez is one of many free agents still looking for work, and it sounds like only the Marlins have been showing interest. If they haven't done so already, the White Sox should check him out.

Freddy Garcia could join White Sox in "next few days"

One of those could be erased within the next few days if Freddy Garcia decides to return to the South Side. A source Wednesday confirmed that the 33-year-old Garcia is considering signing with the Sox, while the Mets, Rangers and Yankees also are in the mix.

Robothal: Sources: White Sox add Colon to rotation

The White Sox and Colon have agreed to a one-year deal, according to major-league sources. The deal is pending a physical. h/t VictorB

Angels officially deny Dye-for-Figgins rumor

Los Angeles Angels general manager Tony Reagins on Tuesday said his team is not interested in trading for Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye. Reagins told the Los Angeles Times for Wednesday's editions there is "no truth" to a rumor floated by the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday, in which the Angels would acquire Dye. Reagins said he has not spoken with the White Sox since the winter meetings in December, and added the conversation "wasn't regarding any player." He also said he is not currently looking for an outfielder.

Figgins Rumors Won't Dye

According to a major-league scout, the Angels are the latest team to express interest in acquiring Jermaine Dye now that the Mark Teixeira ship has set sail to New York. Unlike the talks with the Reds that stalled during the Winter Meetings, the Sox and Angels actually have a fit.

Rumor: Orioles, White Sox discussing trade involving Gavin Floyd and Brian Roberts

Brian Roberts always seems to be linked to the Chicago Cubs in trade rumors, but White Sox general manager Kenny Williams loves the guy and is trying to acquire him. The two sides have discussed former Mount St. Joe pitcher Gavin Floyd as a starting point in trade talks. The Orioles might need more, though the White Sox would want it to be straight-up, since they'd be surrendering a 17-game winner. I edited UribeAuction's original link and text to point to the source. But here's a link to his site because we still value his contributions here

Evolution at Work: Konerko-for-Figgins becomes Dye-for-Votto-for-Figgins

We don't know whether the Red Sox will decide not to pony up and sign Teixeira or whether there really might be a three-way deal among the White Sox, Angels and Reds that would put Jermaine Dye in Cincinnati, Joey Votto in Anaheim and Chone Figgins in Chicago.

Cockroaches and Konerko-to-the-Angels

Angels general manager Tony Reagins will explore the trade market for more offense, starting perhaps with Chicago White Sox sluggers Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko. The versatile Chone Figgins has been a sought-after figure in trade talks.

Ozzie Guillen Talked to Bobby Abreu

"The interest exists, but other teams have also shown interest," he said. "Bob will decide with whom he will play. He needs to choose a contract that allows him to play many years in the major leagues."
