The White Sox optioned pitcher Jeff Marquez to Triple-A Charlotte. Marquez started the spring as a potential starter. Outfielder Josh Kroeger and pitcher Randy Williams were reassigned to minor league camp, and pitchers Lance Broadway and Jack Egbert were optioned to Charlotte. Infielder Jayson Nix was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to March 17. PHOENIX - Rookie Chris Getz was named the White Sox's opening day second baseman. "I'm proud for him," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Prior to today's spring training game vs. the Los Angeles Angels, the Chicago White Sox made the following 12 13 roster moves: Optioned C Cole Armstrong, RHP Jon Link and 3B Dayan Viciedo to Class AAA Charlotte; Optioned INF Brandon Allen, RHP Jhonny Nunez and RHP Clevelan Santeliz to Class AA Birmingham; RHP Ryan Braun, INF Javier Castillo, C Tyler Flowers, RHP Franklyn German, OF Michael Restovich and RHP John Van Benschoten were reassigned to minor-league camp. "Since when have we followed a mainstream course?" Williams asked defiantly one day last week. "Definitely [Beckham] could play in the big leagues right now." ... "Three-inning stints in the bullpen as opposed to right out-of-the box responsibility for six innings."
