The White Sox announced Friday the team had agreed to a one-year, $500,000 contract with utility infielder Pablo Ozuna.
Half the cost of, say, Timo Perez with about twice the production. Can't complain here. He's a useful bench player. Albeit one without any power. I can't wait until he hits his first HR in a White Sox uniform during extras in Game 7 of the series.
The White Sox also increased their major league roster to 39 by purchasing the contracts of outfielders Jerry Owens and Chris Young, catcher Chris Stewart, left-hander Daniel Haigwood and right-hander Charles Haeger.
Owens, Young, Haigwood, and Haeger needed to be protected from the Rule 5 draft. I don't think much of Stewart as a prospect, but I suppose a team in need of a back up catcher could have easily selected him and played him sparingly at the bigs next year to keep him.
