Furcal, BMac's sister, and Da Bears

[LA Times]

Free agent Rafael Furcal has agreed in principle to a three-year deal with the Dodgers that would make him one of the highest-paid shortstops ever, a source close to the negotiations said Saturday. The deal would guarantee Furcal, 28, nearly $40 million.
I normally don't post news about other teams, but this signing affects us ever so slightly. -- Furcal was the #1 free agent target of the Cubs, who now appear to be on the market for a leadoff hitter and a SS. That is unless they want to play Neifichiro! there every day.

How does that affect us? Well, the Cubs like name players. It would make a whole lot of sense to trade for them to trade for Julio Lugo now that Furcal is off the market. After all, they are two very similar players and Lugo would be much cheaper. That's not what I expect them to do, however. No, I expect them to make an all out push for the services of one Juan Pierre, who is currently being pursued by the Yankees. -- Two big players in the Pierre bidding should be enough to make those conflicting reports congruous, and in a good way; the kind without Pierre linked to the Sox.

Scanning the internet for White Sox related news, I found this recent interview with Brandon McCarthy's sister, Marign McCarthy.

The Bears face off against the hated Packers in a little under 12 hours, so I thought I would take this opportunity to remind everyone about SB Nation's 2nd best site, Windy City Gridiron.

The Bears are touchdown favorites, but I'm not so confident. I can't seem to shake the fear that Kyle Orton is due to blow a game, and Brett Favre owns the Bears. -- I think the Bears pull this one out, but it's going to be a close one.

Finally, I'd like to apologize to all of you who tried to visit the site yesterday in the AM. I was aware that the servers that host the SB Nation sites were physically being moved, but I thought the outage we experienced just a few days ago was that move. It was not. Yesterday's outage was the official server move, so we should be running smooth for the foreseeable future.
