First night at the Ballpark

Tonight was my first trip to USCF this season. I bought into a season ticket plan with some friends, but I decided to clump all of my games between May 1st and August 31st so that my brother and I could go. (He is paying for half of our buy-in after all)

The weather forecast for tonight was supposed to be brutally cold, but I was actually quite warm for most of the night. The sun was shining in my side of the car for most of the trip down there, so I think that had something to do with it. Mike the beer vendor was the other reason that I felt pretty warm. He's also the reason you're going to get a short game recap tonight.

I don't think that I was really observing any of the little things all that well.

How about Tadahito? He looked awesome. He absolutely CRUSHED that ball in the 3rd. His batting average is up to .365. Wow, is all I can say. I know it's early but there's no doubt about him being able to hit fastballs, and with authority. He still struggles with the off-speed stuff, but that will come in time. His leg kick will make that a long adjustment period, though.

It looked like we had a bunch of Moises Alou's out there running the base paths tonight. Two guys out on one pick off move. How does that happen? I've never seen that before. AJ trying to steal? I can only hope that was a botched hit and run.

Two more thoughts before I hit the sack.

- Paul Konerko looks terrible. Average down to .202
- Jermaine Dye was hitting the ball well tonight. Average up to .190

What date does Dye eclipse Pauly in batting average?
