Freddy Garcia faces off against his old team once again. He was the only Sox starter to take a loss when the M's visited USCF back in April. Joel Pineiro is the scheduled starter for the M's. I don't know what happened to him. He's been down on the minors this season to work things out, and he's never matched the promise he showed early in his career.
With Carl Everett down for a few day (Boy do I hope it's only a few days), expect Timo Perez to fill in in LF or at DH tonight. It would seem to me that Ross Gload or Brian Anderson would be better options, but I don't make the line-ups. It's not like there is a tough roster decision to be made either. Jon Adkins, who's rotting away at the ass end of the pen, would be a perfect option for demotion. [Actually, I think he has to be up for 10 days before he can be sent back down, so scratch that.]
Anyway, I'm not the biggest Brian Anderson fan in the world, but I'm hoping he gets the call up to the big leagues before September so that he would be eligible for the post-season. It would be easy to clear space on the 40-man roster for him, because Frank Thomas could easily be moved from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL, opening up a spot.
