Have I mentioned lately that Jose Contreras is our best pitcher? He's 9-2 with a 3.23 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP since the All-Star break. Simply put, he's been a savior while the other arms in the rotation are floundering.
Contreras pitched with a ton of heart, and for once it was the White Sox catching the breaks. Lil' Lego Nicky Punto made a boneheaded play in the 3rd that saved the Sox a run, then in the 8th he misplayed a hop to let the Sox winning run score. The Sox MVP on the day was no doubt El Conde, but he got some serious help from Legoman.
- The Sox took 2 of 3 from that team for up north, ya, but the Indians swept the Royals with ease to pick up a game in the standings. The Sox Magic Number to clich the central now sits at 11. Their Magic Number for clinching a playoff berth is 10, as the Yankees lost to the Blue Jays.
- Bobby Jenks has the best fist pump in baseball this side of Derek Jeter.
- I'm not listening to the TV broadcasts anymore. Hawk is convinced that anyone and everyone is out to get the Sox, like it's all some big government conspiracy or something. Plus, I should listen to John Rooney while I still have the chance.
