Gold Gloveless Crede settles for Silver Slugger

New, comments

More confusing post-season awards. Joe Crede, a good-but-not-great offensive player, won the AL Silver Slugger award at third base this season over A-Rod, who when he finally retires 10 years from now might be the best offensive player in baseball history. Those of you who were so upset about the Gold Glove awards have nothing to complain about now. I'm sure Scott Boras is excited that he gets to put "Silver Slugger" in Crede's arbitration portfolio.

Jermaine Dye also won along with Manny Ramirez and Vlad Guerrero for AL outfielders. The award pushes his 2007 salary to $7M, which could go higher still if he were to unexpectedly steal the MVP award.
