Dye wins players choice award, Sox win Dick

New, comment

Jermaine Dye was voted the AL's Most Oustanding Player by his peers.

The White Sox training staff was awarded the Dick Martin award by Baseball Prospectus for excellent injury avoidance. -- Every once in a while, Hawk gets something right. He loves to praise Herm Schneider, and is right to do so. With the exception of the aptly named Big Hurt and the freak injury to Maggs in '03, the Sox have had an amazingly healthy club for about the last 4 seasons.

I think part of the recognition needs to go to Kenny Williams too. He seems to understand that having a durable slightly above average pitcher is generally more valuable than having an oft-injured top-of-the-line starter.
