At least these games don't count

The Sox dropped two more games in split squad action today. They've been outscored 23-4 in their 3 games.

The good news in that ALL of the Sox starters have been sharp. Javier Vazquez pitched 2 innings of shutout baseball, giving up 3 hits while striking out 2; and Freddy Garcia gave up 2 runs in three innings of work. Garcia joined Garland and Contreras as Sox pitchers who tired in their third inning of work. None of the Sox pitchers have allowed a run in their first two innings of work.

Gas Cans of the day were Tim Redding, who gave up 5 runs, Corwin Malone (3 runs), and Jeff Bajenaru (4 runs), all in an inning of work. Malone couldn't find the zone, and Baj was just getting hit hard.

Josh Fields hit a HR, but it was off of Russ Ortiz, so it should probably only count as a double. The last time the Sox saw Russ Ortiz, they were hanging a 10-spot on the D'Backs, in what was a week of comebacks.
