Mark Buehrle (9-7, 4.43) vs. Jon Wasdin (2-2, 5.01)
Mark Buehrle has been terrible in July, allowing 11 runs to the worst offense in baseball and getting waxed by the Yankees, yet I feel strangely confident that he'll throw a good game tonight. He only lasted 51 pitches in his last outing, and has reportedly thrown two side sessions with Don Cooper working on, well, I don't know. Let's hope it was concentrating on not throwing BP fastballs down the heart of the plate. At any rate, I think Buehrle will, at the very least, prevent another one of those 4-runs-in-7-pitches nuclear meltdowns, which will be a step in the right direction.
As brought up in a post below, watch for some fireworks this series if Pierzynski comes anywhere near being hit by a pitch. Sean Tracey, famously discarded for failing to hit Hank Blalock, will almost certainly be called on to do the deed should the need arise.
Finally, tonight is Mullet Night. Hairbangers Ball will be playing outside one of the gates at USCF, while Posin will be playing outside another. I'm just sad that the Sox didn't ask Lounge Puppets and Limozeen to join them.
