Grandpa Alomar comes through!

Kenny is a genious! His trades payed off big time! 1. Sandy Alomar caught a very good game from Mark Buehrle, and scored the game-winning RBI! 2. Mike McDougal pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. 3. Matt Thornton pitched 2/3 scoreless innings.

The good old Mark Buehrle showed up and pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs (a 2-run homer to S. Casey and an RBI double to C. Granderson), after the Sox didn't turn an inning-ending double play in the 5th, while striking out 7. Yes 7! According to Sandy, Mark focused on his four-seam fastball, threw less changeups, and had great location and movement on his pitches.

The Sox answered Detroit's 3 runs on the top of the 5th, with 3 runs of their own on the bottom of the 5th. After C. Guillen's fielding error allowed Sandy Alomar to reach first, Uribe doubled in Paulie. Then Brian Anderson's single scored Uribe and Sandy on M. Thame's fielding error. Sandy scored the game-winning RBI in the 7th with a sac fly that drove in Jermaine Dye on B. Inge's throwing error. After the 2 scoreless innings from McDougal and Thornton, Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect 9th for his 32nd save!

Sense a pattern here? The Tiger players are nervous. Hopefully we can continue taking advantage of Detroit's errors and get a good performance from Freddy tomorrow.
