Is there a team out there worse than the Sox the past month?

They're 1-7 in their last 8 games, and have won just 2 of their last 12 series. Without putting any research into it -- even I'm not that masochistic -- I don't think there's a single team out there who can claim such futility down the stretch, certainly no team in the playoff hunt.

Since I'm have absolutely zero interest in writing about the game... I thought this piece by Ken Rosenthal on the dearth of good free-agent pitching helps illustrate why the White Sox are in such a good position with 5 guys locked up next year. Every single one of the Sox starters would be atop that list were they a free agent. The Sox will really be dealing from a position of strength, a position where prospects and $10M doesn't seem like such a high price to pay for 200 innings of average-to-above-average starting pitching.
