Does AJ think the team missed a vocal leader like the "Truthosaurus":
"[Expletive], no. We have plenty of vocal guys. I don't understand when people say that one at all. Carl Everett said what he said, but this team has plenty of vocal guys, so I don't agree with that at all. Heck, our manager [Ozzie Guillen] is as vocal as anyone can get. Having a 'vocal guy' is overrated. It's like when people talk about team chemistry. Team chemistry is great when you're winning and [garbage] when you're losing.
Maybe a team meeting?
"What the heck are they going to say now? We pretty much know where we stand, to be honest. There's nothing that could be said that we don't know. You can have all the meetings you want. It doesn't matter. You are six out with nine to play, which means chances aren't so good. Let's be honest. Say whatever you want about how we are not mathematically eliminated, but let's be honest. I don't see the Tigers or Twins going 2-7 down the road and us going 9-0 with the way we are playing right now. I hate to say that, but I'm a realist at the same time. Where we stand right now ain't good."
AJ expects changes from GM Ken Williams though:
Hopefully it's just some tweaking. We have some of the right pieces in the right places, but when you fall short on what the expectations were ... if you have the opportunity to go with this team again, I would hope things would have been different. You can't change what happened. It's a tough situation because you like the guys that are here and you want to be able to succeed with the guys that are here, but most of us are veterans and we know the situation. You know if you don't win, you won't have the opportunity to come back and have the same team. Heck, even when we won last year, there were a lot of changes. Kenny is going to do everything to try and help the team. Hopefully I'll be back and a lot of the other guys will be back."
