Coop thinks Masset might be evaluated as a starter:
"The reason I'm considering him is because [Rangers pitching coach] Mark Connor had told me [Masset had started]. He can do it. He feels he can do it."
I think it's the Arizona weather.
Also, as larry pointed out, Buehrle turned down a 3 year, $33 million dollar extension last summer.
Coop on the new arms:
"There are some formalities we have to go through, namely getting their pitches and innings up. But I feel very good about all the guys. It's a fresh start for a lot of these guys. I'm sure they want to show everyone what they can do. Look at a guy like Aardsma, coming across town [from the Cubs]. All these guys are looking to make their mark. None of these guys have made their mark yet. Some of the guys, like Sisco and [Floyd], are highly touted, but it hasn't happened yet. I'd like to think it's their time. So now I'm looking to plot a course that will bring them success and wins."
