Ryan Sweeney update

[Scott Merkin]

At just 22, Sweeney still looks to be the player ticketed for Triple-A Charlotte when designated hitter Jim Thome returns from the disabled list. But with a six-game hitting streak, along with three RBIs in the past two games, Sweeney could take the injured Scott Podsednik's spot as the primary left fielder in the short term, and possibly even beyond.

Guillen said Sweeney's exceptional play has made it easier for him to make the ultimate call in regard to this young talent's roster spot.

"Right now, we will see how many at-bats I have for him," said Guillen of Sweeney, hitting .259 after Thursday's contest. "If we need him here to win, we are going to keep him. That's up to [general manager] Kenny [Williams]."

Seems [to me] Sweeney is staying in Chicago.
