- The Sox are considering switching to a 6-man pitching rotation. Floyd can claim a spot. Ozzie wants to give him a shot.
- The Sox made 6 promotions in their minor teams. OF Thomas Collaro, C Donny Lucy (he was hitting .269 with 6 HRs and 27 RBI in 290 AB), and UP Adam Ricks were promoted to AAA-Charlotte and SP Kyle McCulloch (7-7, 3.64 ERA, 88K/42BB in 121 IP, .251 BAA), OF David Cook, and C Cole Armstrong were promoted to AA-Birmingham.
- Brian Anderson was refitted with a new cast on his left wrist and is likely out for the rest of the season. Afterwards he is headed to winter ball at the Mexican Pacific League to make up the lost time. Ryan Sweeney was placed on the DL with a wrist injury and could play in the Arizona Fall League for Phoenix if he doesn't receive a September promotion to the Sox.
- Mark Gonzales says Colorado considered trading Byung-Hyun Kim to the Sox for knuckleballer Charlie Haeger before the start of the season.
Ozzie likes Danny Richar:
"You look at Danny Richar, this kid, the at-bats he gives me are outstanding. Walking, bunting, taking guys deep in the count, facing tough pitchers. I like what I see. I like when all his at-bats count."
BTW, Ozzie wouldn't want Barry Bonds on the Sox. Me neither.
