Cold Arizona weather stymies Sox offense until the 9th

Jake Peavy retired the first eleven Giants that he faced. He then worked from the stretch to get some practice at it, and promptly gave up a HR to Aubrey Huff and a walk to Buster Posey. He left the game after 49 pitches pissed off. His anger at himself was described as 'discomfort' by the Giants radio team. Not cool.

The Sox didnt hit all day. Lillibridge went 0-1 and didnt cover second base on a SB. Alexei went 0-3 and didnt cover the bag on that play either, I'm not sure who is at fault there. Vizquel and Q went 0-2. Morel and MacPherson 0-3. AJ took the cake with an 0-4. Heading into the 9th the only guys with hits were Pierre and Dunn.

Jeff Suppan picked up the save by giving up what sounded like a monster blast to Dunn, his first of the spring. It went over the Giants bullpen and toward the "salty pavillion." Gartrell followed with a homer of his own, his second of the spring, and that was pretty much it.

Zito earned the win with 5 shutout innings.

White Sox 2, Giants 4
