White Sox Minor League Update

2004 Prospect Retro from Sickels:

Jesse Crain, RHP, Minnesota Twins
Bats: R Throws: R HT: 6-1 WT: 200 DOB: July 5, 1981

This guy is good. Real good. The Twins drafted Crain in the second round in ’02, out of the
University of Houston. He’s risen rapidly through the farm system, and should see the
Show sometime in ’04. Just look at his career numbers. In 111.2 innings, more than half at
Double-A or Triple-A, he has a 143/36 K/BB ratio, allowing only 57 hits. He has yet to
give up a home run as a pro pitcher. Crain can hit 98 MPH, usually working at 94-95. His
slider and curveball are solid offerings, and he throws strikes. Crain projects as a closer,
and I think he’s going to be a good one. Grade B+.
