The White Sox got a pair of early runs on an Orlando Hudson triple deep into the right center field gap and Jose Quintana and the bullpen made those runs stand up as the Sox improved to 34-27 on the season and 18-9 on the road. With the Indians loss, the Sox are back to 1.5 games up in the Central.

Quintana gave up 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings but only gave up an RBI single to Allen Craig in the 6th. He was aided by double plays in the 2nd and 3rd innings and when he was removed with one out in the 6th, Nate Jones got Tyler Greene to hit another one.

Matt Thornton pitched a 1-2-3 7th and the offense blew the game open in the top of the 8th. Alejandro De Aza led off the frame with a double off of Marc Rzepczynski and scored on a Gordon Beckham single. After Beckham got thrown out at 2nd on the play, Adam Dunn delivered his 21st homer of the season to make it 4-1. Paul Konerko followed with a single and after an Alex Rios force out, A.J. Pierzynski took Mitchell Boggs out of the yard to give the Sox the 6-1 lead.

Jesse Crain and Addison Reed pitched the 8th and 9th to close down the victory.

WP: Jose Quintana (2-1)

LP: Adam Wainwright (5-7)

HR: Adam Dunn (21), A.J. Pierzynski (11)

* A Robin Ventura decision I didn't like: In the 7th, with 2 outs and nobody on he used Dayan Viciedo to pinch hit for Nate Jones. It was a 2-1 game and with nobody on I would have rather seen him give that at bat to someone else and leave Viciedo on the bench if a bigger situation came up later in the game.

* A Robin Ventura decision I did like: After De Aza's double in the 8th, he didn't make Beckham bunt him to third...which has been his protocol. Beckham singled in the run, and Dunn followed with a homer.

* The bullpen recorded 11 outs on 11 batters faced. Jones got a double play on the only batter he saw, Thornton and Reed threw perfect innings and Crain only surrendered a single to Carlos Beltran.

* Jake Peavy takes the mound tomorrow against Lance Lynn in what should be a good pitchers matchup.
