With the conclusion of Charlotte's playoff run last night, the White Sox have added another bullpen toy for Robin Ventura to play with. Jhan Marinez, who was with the White Sox briefly in mid-July, brings the active roster to 35, including 18 pitchers.
The right-hander made only a single appearance at Kansas City during his earlier stint with the major league club, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings in which he gave up two hits and two walks (one intentional).
For Charlotte, in his first season at the Triple-A level, the 24 year old Dominican threw 63 innings and gave up 39 hits, walked 30 and struck out 65.
Presumably, Marinez will be the final September call up.
Marinez came to the White Sox from the Marlins as part of the compensation for Ozzie Guillen. He also had a brief call up for the Marlins in July 2010. His career line in the majors is 4.1 IP, 5 H, 5 BB and 3 K.
