Chet Lemon Opens "The Big House"

1
When former baseball All-Star Chet Lemon embarked a quest to build a sports facility, he wanted it to have everything. He and his wife, Gigi, planned for gyms large enough to host national volleyball and basketball tournaments, with thousands of athletes competing from Central Florida and beyond. It needed a major-league sized baseball outfield with extra batting cages and pitching mounds, as well as a world-class fitness center, a running track and outdoor beach volleyball and soccer fields. And they wanted it to comfortable for spectators so they added a hair and nail salon, a car-detail shop, a smoothie bar and a food court. Their 15-year, $6 million odyssey has materialized in their newly opened 162,000-square-foot home for sports, aptly named The Big House.
