Fox Sports' Jon Morosi tweeted:
Free agent reliever Scott Downs near agreement with Chicago White Sox, source tells @FOXSports1.

Downs is a veteran lefty with a proven track record, something the White Sox don't have. The 37-year-old spent most of his career with the Blue Jays and Angels. He was traded to the Braves at the trade deadline last season.
At this point in his career, he really should only face left-handed hitters. He's seen his walk rate spike and has become more hittable. He heavily relies on his sinker and gets the groundballs one would associate with that approach, which is a good fit for the Cell. His primary secondary offering is a decent curve.
No details yet on what the offer to Downs might be but one would assume that it would be a low dollar deal, likely for one year but no more than two.
Update on terms from Ken Rosenthal:
Source: Downs’ deal with #WhiteSox will be one year, $4M range with vesting option that could bring deal to about two years/$8M.
