Don's offseason plan

Arbitration-eligible (with projected salaries from MLBTR): Write "tender" or "non-tender" after each of the following names: •Ronald Belisario, $3.9M - non-tender •Tyler Flowers, $2.1M - tender •Dayan Viciedo, $4.4M - tender •Hector Noesi, $1.9M - tender •Nate Jones, $600,000 - tender •Javy Guerra $1.3M (if he is a Super Two) - tender Explain the toughest calls: Viciedo has to have some trade value as little as it may be. I know sabermetrics may say Belisario was unlucky, but the eye test said he was terrible, especially for almost four million Contract options (pick up or buy out): •Felipe Paulino: $4M for 2015 or $250,000 buyout - buyout Explain if you have to: He was really bad Free agents (re-sign or let go?): •Matt Lindstrom: $4M salary in 2014 - buyout Explain if you have to: Too much money, not enough talent. Free agents Pablo Sandoval - 5years 80 Million. Above average bat and glove is needed at a position where the Sox haven't had stability in almost ten years. Mike Morse - 2years 25 million. Nice middle of the order bat that makes contact. Would mainly be used as a DH, but also could play a little corner outfield and first base. Would be best to keep him of the field though. Norichika Aoki - 1 year 9 million. Might have to overpay for a one year deal, but need to leave a spot freed up for next years sexy free agent outfielders. Jed Lowrie - 2years 12 million. Need someone to hold down the fort until Anderson comes up. Free agent shortstops are slim pickings and I use this to trade Alexi. Joe Thatcher - 2years 6 million. Need some lefties and I can't see paying what Miller is going to ask for. Pat Neshek - 2years 6 million. Another solid addition to an awful bullpen. Neal Cotts - 2years 6 million. Need another lefty and he has great hair TRADES Alexei Ramirez, Courtney Hawkins, and Trey Michalczewski to the Mets for Jacob De Grom. The Mets need a ss and have an abundance of young pitching. Throwing in two prospects to sweeten the deal for a young pitcher under control for six years. Dayan Viciedo to anyone that will give you some minor leaguers. He needs to go, but you have to be able to get some toolsy single a player that Kenny would love for him. Lineup CF Eaton - 520,000 3B Sandoval - 16,000,000 1B Abreu -8,670,000 DH Morse - 12,500,000 LF Garcia - 520,000 SS Lowrie - 6,000,000 RF Aoki - 9,000,000 C Flowers - 2,100,000 2B Johnson - 520,000 Bench 520,000 Sierra - 520,000 Semien -520,000 Nieto - 520,000 Gillaspie Rotation Sale - 6,000,000 Quintana - 1,000,000 De Grom - 520,000 Danks - 14,200,000 Rodon - 520,000 Bullpen Thatcher - 3,000,000 Neshek - 3,000,000 Cotts - 3,000,000 Webb - 520,000 Petricka - 520,000 Guerra - 1,300,000 Noesi - 1,3000,000 Total payroll - 92,790,000 The offense is much improved. The loss of Alexi will certainly hurt, but having four young pitchers with good contracts for the next four-five years will keep the Sox a contender on a yearly basis. I think we got three good relievers for the price it would have taken to get Andrew Miller. If Petricka is not up to closing, that could be an issue, but there is plenty of money left in the budget to make a move for another reliever or bench player. This also frees up money for Cesepedes, Heyward, or Upton in 2016.
