White Sox send Carlos Sanchez, Nestor Molina, and Frank De Los Santos to Charlotte

Despite an encouraging offseason and spring, Carlos Sanchez exits to Charlotte. The bullpen situation also clears up slightly with Nestor Molina and Frank De Los Santos out of the picture as well.

The White Sox have continued today making moves to get down to their 25-man roster.  Carlos Sanchez, Nestor Molina and Frank De Los Santos, all members of the White Sox 40-man roster, were sent to Charlotte.

After hitting .241/.293/.296 last season at Charlotte, Carlos Sanchez tumbled in several of the offseason prospect lists. In the Venezuelan Winter League, he bounced back by hitting .348/.428/.443 and was named the league's rookie of the year. He's also leaving the major league spring training as the team leader in batting average. If this were last spring, he might have made it to the 25-man roster.  Now, he's heading to Charlotte.  This is also the time to mention that he's two years younger than Marcus Semien and Micah Johnson.  He turns 22 on June 29.

Nestor Molina struggled through injuries and a bullpen move last season.  This spring, he's given up five runs in 4⅓ to earn his trip to Charlotte.

De Los Santos was picked up in a late season trade from the Rays to add some competition to this spring's LOOGY battle.  With De Los Santos gone, Scott Downs, Donnie Veal, and David Purcey are the last of the left handed relievers.
