With the last game of the spring over, the White Sox make their last round of roster moves. Hector Gimenez, Micah Johnson, Alex Liddi, Zach Putnam, David Purcey and Blake Tekotte all were reassigned to the minor league camp.
During the game with the Birmingham Barons, Curt Bloom, the Baron's announcer, said that Johnson will just be switching locker rooms after the game. The rest are probably all headed to AAA Charlotte.
The only questions truly remaining on the roster before today was the last spot in the bullpen. Purcey struggled at times through spring training. Putnam, on the other hand, looked good and ended spring training having pitched in eleven games with a 2.53 ERA. Daniel Webb, however, pulled through the competition with a chance to be the closer before the season is through.
After these moves, the White Sox are down to 27 players. The Sox "will make two additional roster moves prior to Opening Day vs. Minnesota." Those moves will likely be to put Gordon Beckham and Jeff Keppinger on the DL.
With the game done, the Sox are already on their way to Chicago for opening day on Monday.
