The White Sox have announced that Avisail Garcia will be going on the 15-day DL with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will be undergoing "season ending" surgery next week. Garcia injured his shoulder while attempting a diving catch yesterday against the Rockies. This happened just one day after hitting his first two homers of the season.
After the game yesterday, the Sox announced Garcia had a "jammed left shoulder" and that x-rays "were negative for fracture, separation or dislocation." Additional tests were run today, and an MRI turned up the torn labrum.
Familiar face Jordan Danks is being recalled from Charlotte to fill Garcia's spot in the roster. Danks has played for the Sox during the previous two seasons putting up a career .229 /.303/.344 line. Danks had an excellent spring training, hitting five home runs, but it hasn't carried through to his time in Charlotte where he has batted .182 through the first six games.
