The White Sox' Jose Abreu has been named the AL Player of the Month and AL Rookie of the Month for April. Since this has been so typical for this month, Abreu sets new milestones even when he wins awards.

- Slugging %
- Total bases
- Home Runs
- RBIs
- Extra base hits
- AB per HR
Abreu becomes the fourth White Sox player to win AL Rookie of the Month honors. The first Sox player to win was Ross Gload who won the award for September 2004. The other winners include current Sox Alexei Ramirez (August 2008) and Gordon Beckham (July 2009). No Sox player has one the AL Rookie of the Month more than once. He is the first Sox player to with AL Player of the Month since Paul Konerko won the honor in June 2002.
