chisoxfan1's Offseason Plan

Arbitration-eligible (with projected salaries from MLBTR):

* Tyler Flowers, $3.5M-do not tender

* Avisail Garcia, $2.3M-tender

* Nate Jones, $900K-tender

* Zach Putnam, $800K-tender

* Dan Jennings, $800K-tender

Flowers was a tough decision but there are plenty of catchers available this winter.

Contract options (pick up or buy out)

* Alexei Ramirez: $10M for 2016 or a $1 million buyout

Buy Out- Alexi has his hot streaks and always drops jaws defensively, but he is not consistent enough to be worth $10 million. We will have $9 million to spend on other positions this offseason like third base or DH.

Impending free agents (re-sign, let go, or qualifying offer?):

* Jeff Samardzija: $15.8M qualifying offer-he will decline, I'll offer him 4yrs/42m he will most likely decline that as well

* Matt Albers: Made $1.5M in 2015 - let go

* Gordon Beckham: Made $2M in 2015 - offer him 2yrs/3m-

* Geovany Soto: Made $1.5M in 2015 - offer 1yr/2m

Samardzija showed us last year that he is not worth the "ace" contract like we thought. Matt Alerbers had a decent year meaning he will be asking for more money. Bullpen pitchers like him are a dime a dozen in the minor leagues and in free agency. Beckham is a great defensive substitution in late innings that the sox are winning. Soto showed that he is a legitimate backup and could possible make a case to be the starting catcher in 2016.

Free agency

Sign Yoenis Cespedis for 4 year 80 million, with a 5th year player option. Cespedis has proven to have some of his best hitting performances at the Cell. His bat in the line-up as a potential 4 hitter would make the lineup one of the best on paper. If they were able to sign him, that would mean we need to either trade Avi or move him to DH.

Sign Marco Estrada to a 2 year $28 million contract. He has shown with the Blue Jays that he is ready to be a top guy in a contending rotation. A right handed arm with a change-up like his is exactly what we need the day after a Sale start.

Sign AJ Pierzynski for 1 year 1.5 million. Allow AJ to retire in Chicago and possible have a chance to platoon with Soto.

Sign Darren O’Day for 3 years 15 million. He has proven to be a shutdown set up man with Baltimore and would be a great fit in our Bullpen.

Sign Eric O’Flaherty to a 1 year 1.5 million dollar deal. He is a left handed specialist that is much needed especially playing in the AL Central with so many dangerous leftys.

Frankie Montas and Avi to the Chicago Cubs for Starlin Castro. I know a lot of Sox fans don’t like trading with our crosstown foes but the Cubs have an overload of talent in the middle of the infield and the White Sox… don’t. The Cubs only need for the future is more young pitching so that would be the perfect fit.

Trade Adam Laroche to the Cardinals for whatever they are willing to give just get him out of here.

Thompson- RF

Sanchez- IF

This team wouldn’t be much different on paper compared to last years team but the small changes are what I believe are needed to turn this thing around. The problem in 2015 was not a lack of talent but a lack of certain players living up to their potential. Ventura has a short leash and if the team starts off slow like last year I would fire him.
