Jeff Samardzija drops five game suspension appeal, Carlos Rodon to start Saturday

Chris Sale is expected to drop his appeal tomorrow. Also, our annual meetup also gets a nice bonus.

After a good start for the White Sox last night, Jeff Samardzija is dropping his appeal of his five-game suspension and will begin serving it tonight.  After his start tonight, Chris Sale is expected to begin his suspension too.

Sale and Samardzija were both suspended for their parts in the brawl with the Royals back on April 23rd.

After the brawl, Samardzija and Sale were both given five game suspensions which they immediately appealed.

Prior to today, the Sox had announced Quintana and Noesi as their starters for Thursday and Friday.  Samardzija's normal turn would be on Sunday with Danks on Saturday.  Now, the Sox have announced Carlos Rodon as the starter on Saturday with John Danks likely to start on Sunday.

This adjustment in the starting schedule also means that the tentative starters for the Milwaukee series are Samardzija, Sale, and Quintana, so Craig Counsell is not getting an easy start to managing the Brewers from the White Sox.
