Scott Carroll recalled from Charlotte, Hector Noesi designated for assigment

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Although White Sox GM Rick Hahn mentioned yesterday that "We're all in this together", it doesn't appear that Hector Noesi is included in that "we".  Noesi was designated for assignment today.  To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, the White Sox have recalled Scott Carroll from Charlotte.

Noesi seemed like he was on the bubble all season long.  When Carlos Rodon was recalled, Noesi's time in the rotation seemed to be short.  Since then, his performance in the bullpen has been worse than expected.  Now, with an ERA of 6.89 and a FIP of 6.20 for the season, his time with the White Sox is done.

Scott Carroll, who was non-tendered in the offseason, comes back for his second stint with the Sox this season.  Although he has a FIP of 4.43 from his first stint, that's still an improvement over Noesi.  The question now is whether Carroll is the starter for the White Sox on Saturday.  Yesterday, the starter for Saturday's game was switched from Carlos Rodon to TBD.  Robin Ventura mentioned that this might be one of those times where Carlos Rodon gets some extra rest, so Carroll may be getting his first start of 2015 on Saturday.

After these moves, the 40 man roster moves down to 39.
