Take it from a pro who knows -- the White Sox are more exciting than watching paint dry.
Another Sunday painting in the basement with Farmio and DJ, another bullet-point recap.
*This victory was as easy as it gets for the White Sox these days. It still resulted in a save situation, but Chris Sale held the Blue Jays scoreless over the first seven innings while the offense cobbled together a 4-0 lead. Sale's shutout bid ended after a pair of eighth-inning solo shots.
*Even then, J.B. Shuck homered for the second time in as many games to restore some of that cushion. That made David Robertson's job easier, and the Sox closer made easy work of it. He induced three easy flyouts for his 20th save and his first clean inning in six outings.
*The Condor improved to 13-2, matching his win total from last year. He lowered his ERA to 2.79 as well. He threw just 99 pitches and struck out seven while allowing five hits and two walks.
*The Sox played small ball and long ball to get on the board against Marcus Stroman. Adam Eaton brought the first run home on a squeeze, with Tyler Saladino diving around Russell Martin's tag for the first run in the third inning. Melky Cabrera then made it 2-0 with a single to right, scoring Tim Anderson.
*Anderson beat Shuck in homering for the second straight day, lifting a fly to left that just cleared the wall for his third homer of the year in the fifth inning. They again scored in pairs as Eaton walked, went to third on Cabrera's single and came home via #WILDPITCHOFFENSE.
*The Sox defense showed up, too. In the first, Eaton threw out Josh Donaldson on his attempt to stretch a single into a double for his ninth assist. In the seventh, Saladino charged an Edwin Encarnacion grounder and threw across his body to second to Brett Lawrie, who jumped out of the way of Donaldson to turn an athletic 5-4-3 double play.
*The Sox finished their season series against Toronto 5-1.
#WhiteSox have won two straight series for 1st time since they swept Texas and Toronto consecutively from April 22-27.
