While the focus of most of the baseball world is on the MLB draft, the White Sox have designated Mat Latos for assignment and purchased the contract of Tyler Danish.

After a shaky spring training, Latos started out the season going 4-0 and was starting to seem like a good late offseason pickup for the team.  Unfortunately, the high flying Latos has plummeted rather quickly.  In his last seven starts, he's only made it out of the fifth inning one time.  In that 36 innings, he's walked 18, struck out 19, and given up nine home runs. That comes out to a 7.25 ERA and 6.81 FIP over that time.

Danish was the White Sox' second round pick in 2013.  In his second year in Birmingham, he's made some nice strides forward.  He's cut his walks to 1.91 BB/9 and home runs to 0.36 HR/9.  This has lead to a nice 3.20 FIP despite his 3-7 record and 4.42 ERA.

These moves left the White Sox 40-man roster at 38, well, until the next story of the day.  That story is up next.
