Scores, stats, and news from the White Sox farm system

Jacob May making a catch in right center.

On Monday, I’ll have a post on Zack Burdi and Alex Call, both of whom I watched in North Carolina this weekend. Besides that, here are smattering of other impressions from Friday night in Kannapolis and Saturday night in Durham:

*Luis Martinez has a really easy motion, but it didn’t get a lot of swings and misses until his final two innings or so, when he started using the high fastball to great effect.

*Tyler Sullivan has a great stirrups game, and Micker Adolfo sports a real smart mustache.

*Every time I’ve seen Jacob May play, he covers some ground in center. He made an outstanding running catch to the right-center gap, and apparently an even better catch on Sunday.

*May and Adam Engel both stole a base, and May scored the final run by challenging a throw on a single to shallow left field.

*Jake Peter had a sneaky-good year in Birmingham (.304/.378/.407), but he’s struggling to find his way in Charlotte. He’s 23, so time’s on his side, but a call-up probably isn’t in the cards this year. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Saturday.

*Nicky Delmonico looked better at the plate (walked, smoked double to the right-field corner) than third, where he overran a pop-up after calling off the catcher.

*Durham's stadium is another one of those downtown parks with a small footprint, which is a trend I'm enjoying.

Sunday’s box scores will appear in the comments shortly.
