Impending free agents (re-sign, let go or qualifying offer)
OF Curtis Granderson 1 year $7mil
LHSP Wade Miley 1 year $5mil.
RHSP Chris Tillman 1 year $8mil
RHRP Huston Street 1 year $2mil + $3mil incentives for games finished
LHRP Kevin Siegrist 1 year $1.5mil
Somehow Curtis Granderson has lived for 36 years without a single plate appearance for the Sox. That changes next year. It's a Sox signing if ever there was one.
2 ex Orioles!? I know, I know. Sox need a LHP who will start games. Although many of them are ugly, Miley starts 30 every year.
Tillman is the "flip" candidate. He regained some velocity late in the year and hopefully 'Coop can work some magic.
Street and Siegrist are cheap and hopefully not toast.
Trade Yolmer Sanches and Avisail Garcia to the Toronto Blue Jays for INF Logan Warmoth and RHP Nate Pearson and OF Edward Oliveras
Knowing how anybody, including Someone, values Avi is tough. So I went for prospects with tools and a lot of upside, who were also a little way away and more risky. Toronto is giving it one more push and needs an OF on a shorter term deal, a quality LH INF off the bench who could also step-in for their injury prone SS/2B duo if needed and SP. This trade gives them 2 of the 3 at a great price and would be a 4-5 WAR upgrade over what they threw out there last year. Both also fit in the event the Jays flop and have to blow it up at the deadline.
Roster-ish (pending some ST battles)
CF- L. Gar
Opening day payroll is around $63mil. The bench would consist of some mix of Engel, Davidson, Peter, Cordell and maybe a Minor League invite like Peralta or Darwin Barney as insurance against Salad's balky back.
I wasn't comfortable with Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer in the SR with an injured Rodon. Fulmer lost out and goes to the 'Pen. I think that rotation has a way of working itself out pretty easily should AAA arms, Rodon or Fulmer force the issue.
Debated long and hard about an Abreu to the Cardinals for Kelly and Delvin Perez, but couldn't bring myself to do it.
