dfroke97's Offseason Plan

dfroke97’s Offseason Plan

Arbitration-eligible (with projected salaries from MLBTR):

Explain the toughest calls if necessary:

Need some extra arms (who looked okay in limited time) to audition for and possibly fill in bullpen roles with Farquhar and Al, but I'm beginning to think Petricka is just never going to regain his form and it may be time to cut ties. Still love Putnam's upside, but I see them non-tendering him as well due to the persistence of his injuries. Don't think you can count on either of them next year.

Impending free agents (re-sign, let go or qualifying offer)

Elaborate if needed:

Sad to see Big Pelf go, but only because of his Player's Weekend jersey, myself being a sucker who bought one.

Free agents

No. 1: Anthony Swarzak (two years, $10M). Had impressive success with the Sox, and they'll need some veterans who can potentially pitch in high leverage spots, this seems like a good idea for a reunion if he's interested in coming back.

No. 2: Hector Santiago (one year, $5M). Ex-Sox, lefty to balance out a righty-heavy rotation at the start of the year, had some nice success under Coop. Seems like another solid reunion.

No. 3: Brian Duensing (one year, $2M). With Bummer likely being the only lefty the Sox have already in place going into next year, they'll need a more dependable veteran to support him and Duensing is at least a veteran, and one who shouldn't be too pricy.

It feels wrong, but honestly, I've got nothing here. I think the only real spots that need any outside fixing are in the pitching staff, and those can be filled by marginal veterans. On offense, there's plenty of talent in the majors and high minors that could use some opportunities to see who sticks, and so that's the plan.

So, not much action this offseason, but I'm not disappointed. This'll be the first year of many to see a full season of payoff from the soon-to-be stars, and that's enough for me. So for the actual 25-man, here we go:
